About Beth Miller

Who I Am

My name is Beth Miller, and I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. I support individuals and families to navigate through difficult times in a safe, therapeutic space. I've been providing therapy for over 10 years in the Asheville area, but it wasn't always this way.

I have had many different roles over the past 15 years. I worked with homeless teenagers, foster children and parents, foreign exchange students, and have also provided in-home therapy and in-school services for high needs children and families. Ultimately, I was able to find the best balance of my own passions and self care while working in private practice. Here I provide a safe space for individuals and families where they can discover who they truly are, what their needs are, and how to decide the most successful path for themselves.

My Approach

I specialize in supporting clients with the enormous weight of expectations in handling what's happening in the world and in themselves, and their families. We are expected to be caregiving for children and somehow also taking care of ourselves. My work's goal is to empower clients to develop security and safety in who they are which leads to better daily life, personal identity, emotional regulation, trauma responses, and relationships.

Clients dive into their past, current, and future stressors while noticing patterns and needs. I normalize what being a human can mean and how we react in situations. Clients often bring anxiety and cycles of being in survival mode. To me, it's important to feel supported as a human with all that brings which includes these patterns and cycles. I work with individuals so they can feel more empowered and balanced.

I believe in empowering emotional development and cognitive awareness. I dive into the ideas about autonomy and active choices. Noticing what things drive us, trigger us, and motivate us can be highly impactful. Taking an inventory of negative messages such as EMDR messages and recurring thoughts can be helpful to decide what to do moving forward.

Anxiety, depression, adoption and integration, self talk messages and values, parenting, and trauma responses can all be explored in therapy. I use attachment work, EMDR, somatic approaches, Community Resiliency Model, Dialectical behavioral therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy. You don't have to feel alone. There are evidence based tools to help support you right now. Schedule a phone consultation to see if it would be a good fit to work together, and complete new client forms when you are ready to begin.
